Fireplace Renovation

This fireplace renovation transformed a dated, heavy brick surround into a bright, modern focal point that feels intentionally integrated with the room. The existing dark brick was removed and the fireplace surround was rebuilt from the ground up, including a new full-height feature wall and raised hearth. Large-format, chevron-patterned tile was carefully laid across the entire surround and continued onto the hearth, creating a seamless look with subtle movement and texture.

One of the most important details of the project was the tile layout. The pattern was carefully aligned across the face of the fireplace and hearth so the chevron design remained balanced and visually consistent from floor to ceiling. Clean edges, minimal grout lines, and the contrast of the light tile against the black firebox give the finished fireplace a crisp, contemporary appearance without making the space feel cold.

The result is a dramatic change from the original black brick fireplace—a lighter, more refined feature that adds architectural interest while complementing the home’s existing flooring and modern style.
